Theatre Arts

Our Mission

The Department of Theatre Arts seeks to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to explore theatre as a significant force in history and culture while providing a broad range of theatre experiences that prepare students and help them find their place in the field of theatre arts. As a community of artists and scholars, we work to cultivate individuals who are able to integrate their intellect and faith with their art, and their art with their worldview. Our purposeful season selection, built around diverse, dramatic forms, provides practical, hands-on application of course content that depends on student participation in performing, directing, playwriting, technical direction and design. We pursue an ethic of excellence in all areas of production, and we affirm the collaborative nature of theatre as an expressive art that tells stories of redemption and hope within our Christian liberal arts context.
