Host Audition Info

Auditions for Tiger Tunes 2024 Hosts will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, in Jones Performing Arts Center.

A sign-up sheet will be posted on the door of the Alumni Relations Office in Cone-Bottoms Jan. 16 - Feb. 7, 2024 at 5 p.m. No additions will be accepted once the list is removed.

If auditioning, please fill out and submit the Host and Hostess Audition Form at the bottom of this page in addition to signing up for your on-stage audition time.

You will receive the acapella selections by email when you sign up on the door in the alumni office. The earlier you sign up the more time you’ll have to prepare this selection. Also, we will not allow duplicate songs during the on-stage portion of the auditions, so the earlier you fill out the online form the better chance you’ll have to be able to perform your first choice on stage. Please make sure the song is appropriate for all audiences.

The tentative show dates for Tiger Tunes this year are Oct. 9-12, 2024.

Tiger Tunes Host and Hostess
Audition Criteria

Must be a full-time residential student (12 hrs) enrolled in Ouachita classes. Students on academic probation/social probation are disqualified from auditioning. Students must have a cumulative 2.25 grade point average on their transcript as of Feb. 7, 2024.

The dance portion of the audition will be held from 9-11 a.m. on the JPAC stage. This will require you to learn choreography from a short section of music.

The acapella portion of the audition will be held from 11 a.m. - noon in JPAC. You can select one of 8 songs to perform acapella for the judges. You will enter JPAC, turn to the center mezzanine and perform your selection for the judges.

The on-stage vocal portion of the audition will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the JPAC stage. This part of the audition is open to the public.

Students auditioning may use digital, piano, or guitar accompaniment. We will not accept acapella on-stage auditions; please make arrangements for a track or accompanist – you may not accompany yourself so we can focus on your vocal performance. If using a digital track, you or a representative will be responsible for getting the appropriate track cued with JPAC crew.

Songs should be no longer than 2 minutes. There is no need to sing an entire song. The judges want to hear your range, style and personality on stage. Find a song that will show off your talents in time allotted on stage. We will stop your audition when the time reaches 2 minutes. Please choose an audition song that shows what you would bring to the Tiger Tunes stage. Do not sing strange, creative or character pieces to be interesting. Consider the types of songs hosts have performed in the past and pick a broadway, pop, country, etc. selection that shows your voice and range.

Those auditioning are required to attend all portions of the audition unless approved by the OSF Director.

Keep in mind the heavy responsibility of this group. Make sure when you sign up to audition that you are willing and able to devote the time and energy required for this production in the fall semester. Night and weekend rehearsals are required to be a Tiger Tunes Host or Hostess in addition to a long weekend in mid-late August.

The judges’ decision is final. Oral or written critiques will not be offered.

WHAT ARE THE JUDGES LOOKING FOR?

  • Students who will proudly and appropriately represent Ouachita Baptist University and the Ouachita Student Foundation.
  • More than just the ability to sing and dance at the same time; they are looking for people with stage presence and personality.
  • Students who can manage their time by meeting deadlines.
  • Students who will work well with others, always keeping the big picture of the show in mind.
  • Experience and/or training are helpful, but not required.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

Thanks and good luck to everyone!
