Campus Housing

Living on campus is an important part of the Ouachita experience.  After all, learning is not limited to the classroom!

Research has shown that students who live in residence halls:

  • earn higher grades;
  • are more likely to persist to graduation;
  • build closer relationships with faculty, staff and fellow students;
  • are more involved in student activities;
  • have fewer emotional problems;
  • report less conflict with parents; and
  • are more generally satisfied with their overall college experience.

Ouachita has such a commitment to the importance and value of residential living that all students under 22 years of age, not living with a parent or guardian, are required to live on campus.

While living in campus housing you will be immersed in the life of the university community.  You will live close to others, many of whom are from diverse backgrounds and geographic areas.  These experiences will allow you to grow both socially and emotionally while learning to appreciate and understand others.  You will have quick access to the Commons, library, computer labs, and other resources like art studios and music practice facilities.  You will be in the heart of the many student activities offered by clubs and organizations.

The experiences gained from campus housing provide a wonderful opportunity for personal growth and serve as building blocks for the development of lifelong friendships.

All residence halls at Ouachita are air conditioned.  Each is furnished with two bunkable twin beds, chairs, at least one desk, drawer and closet space and window blinds. In addition, each room is wired for two LAN connections, one phone outlet and cable TV.
