The Department of Visual Arts will host an exhibit of drawings by Seattle artist Margaret Davidson. The exhibit will be available. October 7 – November 8, 2013.
Thursday, Oct 17: 3PM Gallery talk, a discussion of the work on display with the Drawing I class and guests.
Friday, Oct 18: 9AM to noon workshop for students. Community members will be invited and asked to rsvp. The full workshop is planned as a 3 hour event. However, drop-ins will be accommodated.
Please note that installation of the work in Hammons Gallery will take place the week of October 1-6 and cleanup will occur after the November 8 closing.
Margaret is both an artist and illustrator, who also teaches courses in Beginning Drawing, Sources of Modernism in Drawing, Aesthetics of Drawing, and various drawing technique classes at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, Washington. Margaret has a BFA from the University of Michigan and an MFA from the University of Washington.
Drawing I courses at Ouachita began using her book, Contemporary Drawing: Key Concepts and Techniques (2011 Watson-Guptill) in the fall of 2012. We are excited to have not only a great artist on campus but also the author of one of our course textbooks.
