Ouachita Baptist University’s Office of Admission Counseling will host a Tiger Day specifically for students interested in OBU’s School of Education on Monday, Nov. 11, and a Preview Day for all students on Saturday, Nov. 16.
On Nov. 11, prospective students will have the opportunity to get an in-depth look at Ouachita’s Huckabee School of Education. Check in will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome and student panel at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., students and parents will take a campus tour. At 11 a.m., students will have the opportunity to sit in on a class of their choice, while parents will attend a panel featuring university administrators. At 12 noon, students and their families will enjoy lunch in the Ouachita Commons, and a residence hall tour will be given at 1 p.m.
“This day is all about the School of Education,” said Lori Motl, OBU’s director of admissions counseling. “This is a new concept for us that we are trying out this year, but we are really excited about the possibilities.”
On Nov. 16, prospective students will have the opportunity to attend a Preview Day. This semester’s Preview Day corresponds with the Battle of the Ravine rivalry football game against Henderson State University. Students will get to meet with academic deans, tour campus and join Tiger Nation in cheering on the Tigers.
“Preview Day is a day that shows off our tradition and rivalry surrounding the Battle of the Ravine,” said Motl. “It’s one of the oldest, most intense rivalries in the NCAA.”
Check in on Nov. 16 will begin at 9 a.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center, followed by an opening program at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., students will have the opportunity to attend academic sessions in various locations on campus. At 10:30 a.m., a campus tour will be provided. At 12 noon, students and parents are invited to join the Tiger Tailgate at A.U. Williams Field, and at 2 p.m. the Battle of the Ravine game will begin.
