Ouachita Baptist University’s annual Spotlight on Arkadelphia community and service fair is set for Tuesday, Aug. 23, the first day of the 2016 fall semester. It will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Heflin Plaza and the Student Village circle.
The annual event draws hundreds of Ouachita students, faculty and staff, providing area businesses, churches and organizations the opportunity to interact with the Ouachita community. It is co-hosted by the OBU Office of Student Life and Office of Communications.
More than 80 vendors typically participate in Spotlight. Community participants provide free samples, T-shirts, coupons and other giveaways during the festival-style event.
“Spotlight on Arkadelphia is always a fun event for us to help connect the Arkadelphia community and the Ouachita community at the beginning of the school year,” said Brooke Zimny, OBU director of communications and marketing. “Especially for our new students, it’s a great opportunity to show them what Arkadelphia has to offer.”
To register for Spotlight on Arkadelphia, visit www.obu.edu/spotlight. For more information, contact the OBU Office of Communications at 870-245-5208.
Deadline to reserve space is Tuesday, August 16th.

As we “dream a larger dream for Ouachita,” it will be essential to inspire and secure greater involvement by alumni and friends in giving their time, lending their talent, and investing their financial resources. To that end, we are extending a learning opportunity entitled, “Working Together to Build a Stronger Culture of Philanthropy” to all faculty and staff on Thursday, August 25, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. at Young Auditorium in Hickingbotham Hall.
This session will be led by a nationally recognized expert, Jim Langley, who visited campus in June and conducted a quantitative and qualitative assessment of Ouachita’s donor base over the summer. Jim’s study and visits to campus are made possible by a generous gift. Jim has worked closely over the years with our President and has assisted many Christian colleges and other significant universities and nonprofits.
