Dietetics & Nutrition Major |
Ever since I was a little girl, my mom has told me that I can
be whatever I want to be. If I wanted to be a teacher, a doctor,
or a vet, I could do it. When I came into OBU, I was a declared
dietetics major because I liked and understood science.
Because of my love for food, it gave me a starting point to
figure out about dietetics. Now, I know more about food that
anyone would ever want to know!! Its weird thinking that people
will actually seek me out to give them advice about something
I have studied... bizarre, yet exciting! I want to help people,
and that helps me push on to reach the potential I have as a
future dietitian.
But then I got into some of the science classes and realized
it was much harder than I originally thought. I thought about
giving up and changing my major so many times. But, even though
I tried to change it, I kept coming back to dietetics. I knew
it was what I was good at and once I stuck with it, I realized
that I really did enjoy it and found it very interesting.
And it’s not always easy, but I know it’s what I
want to do because as I already said it’s really interesting
to me and it’s very beneficial for the world today! And,
it doesn't hurt to think about the future when I will get to
wear a lab coat with RD (registered dietitian) attached to my
name... that's going to be a big deal, and I will wear it with
pride and be glad I didn't give up!
