“Ouachita has helped me to learn a passion for my life in ways in which words can’t describe. Coming into Ouachita I was young and at a loss for a sense of direction for my life. I may not know exactly where life is taking me even now, but Ouachita helped me to learn what it meant to have a family.
Coming from a broken family, Ouachita helped me to understand families come in many shapes and sizes. There is the traditional family, but then there is your extended family which God places in your life. Ouachita filled every part of that, and now I know family is something that isn’t unobtainable, even for me.”

“My time at Ouachita taught me passion for life through community. Life is always at its greatest when I am surrounded by my sisters in Christ, no matter what we do. Community is one of the greatest things Ouachita emphasizes, and I realize now in looking back at my time there that those relationships I formed with girls right down the hall from me have turned out to be some of the most invaluable experiences of my life.
Ouachita is an environment that encouraged me to really get to know the people right beside me, a few doors down from me, in the desk in front of me. By taking the time to invest in the lives of others in a deeper way, God grew me tremendously. We always learn more when we have more to pull from, and the relationships and accountability I have through my friends at OBU has given me an education far beyond the classroom. My joy is so much greater when I think about the fellowship I’ve had with my sisters in Christ! My joy is in His church!”

” My experience at Ouachita showed me that every person has their story. I learned to listen, to laugh, and to soak up the time I have with each individual I come into contact with. During my time there, God refined how I view life and my experiences – whether seemingly good or bad. I learned to see others as Christ sees them and to love them, no matter who they are or what their lives look like.
Ouachita encourages students to serve God and serve others, as we have been commanded. So I made it my goal to do this. I learned that through our willingness to serve others with a humble heart, Christ is radiant. Not because of who we are, but because of who He is. In our service and love for other human beings we are able to experience God in a way that is indescribable and brings us in awe at the feet of Jesus. This is my passion in life and Ouachita has guided me, pushed me, and encouraged me to seek it with all my heart.”
