Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior. It analyzes the the processes and patterns of individual and group interaction, the forms of organization of social groups, the relationships among them, and group influences on individual behavior. Although sociology includes the study of all forms of social interaction and interrelationships, it is generally focused on the understanding of group or other collective factors in human behavior.
Training in sociology and social psychology prepares majors for employment in social work, higher education, religious-related vocations, as well as business, engineering, government, law, medicine, teaching, and administration.
