I believe this is the first of DePree's three books.  He likens managing/leading to a jazz band director-- you must organize the performance, but let the players do their thing!  It's a book that's easy to read and worth your time.   He reminds me of a smart grandfather dispensing pearls of widsom to his kids and grandkids.

The book Leadership Jazz by Max DePree is worth reading. The Ideas seem pretty chopping but the book is packed with lots of insight into the art of leadership. The book seems pretty choppy at times but following his chain of thought as you read the book is an insightful experience.
