President Horne meets with trustees, faculty,
and staff on June 1
Dr. Rex Horne began his first day as president of Ouachita Baptist University by meeting for prayer with members of the Ouachita faculty and staff. Also participating in the service in Berry Chapel were members of the Board of Trustees and their guests, in town for a campus tour and meeting with the new president.

May 1 Start for President-elect Horne
Monday, May 1, was the first day on the job for Ouachita President-elect Rex Horne. Dr. Horne began setting up his office and spent time on campus visiting with students, faculty, and staff. He plans to spend the month of May getting acquainted with student, faculty, and administrative leaders.
Horne attends Business Administration Day
President-elect Rex Horne took part in the annual Business Administration Day activities sponsored by Ouachita’s Frank D. Hickingbotham School of Business on Friday, April 21. Dr. Horne joined the business leaders who comprise the university’s business advisory councils, along with the faculty and students of the Hickingbotham School, for their meetings and luncheon.
President-elect Horne introduced to Ouachita students
On Tuesday, April 11, Rex and Becky Horne attended the weekly Chapel service in Ouachita’s Jones Performing Arts Center. After his Chapel message, Dr. Ken Shaddox, pastor of Searcy’s First Baptist Church, Ouachita trustee, and chairman of the Presidential Search Committee, introduced Dr. Horne to the audience of Ouachita students, faculty, and staff. After he addressed the Chapel audience briefly, Dr. and Mrs. Horne greeted students in the Jones Center lobby.
President-elect meets Ouachita faculty and staff
After his selection by the Ouachita Board of Trustees on Thursday morning, April 6, President-elect Rex Horne traveled to Arkadelphia for an afternoon meeting with the Ouachita faculty and staff. He and his wife, Becky, were introduced by Chairman of the Board William H. Sutton. Following his brief remarks, Dr. and Mrs. Horne remained to talk with faculty and staff members who had gathered in Evans Student Center Banquet Room.
