Political science, according to the American Political Science Association, is the study of governments, public policies and political processes, systems, and political behavior. Political science subfields include political theory, political philosophy, political ideology, political economy, policy studies and analysis, comparative politics, international relations, and a host of related fields. Political scientists use both philosophical and scientific perspectives and tools and a variety of methodological approaches to examine the process, systems, and political dynamics of all countries and regions of the world.
Political science students at Ouachita Baptist University will be:
- liberally-educated, with broad exposure to political theory and practice, normative debates, and empirical evidence.
- capable of critical and analytical thinking as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
- prepared for graduate or professional studies in political science, public administration, international affairs, or law.
- equipped for productive careers in the public sector, law, business, education, or community service as well as responsible citizenship.
