Established in 1981, the
Pete Parks Center for Regional Studies serves as an academic center
for the study of the people and culture of south Arkansas, north
Louisiana, east Texas, and southeast Oklahoma. Faculty and students
participating in the Center's various programs have a unique
opportunity to research the history, folklife, architecture,
politics, literature, art, music and religion of this region in an
interdisciplinary manner. The Center also promotes service to others
as an important component in understanding the peoples and cultures
of the Red River Region. The programs offered through the Center
