North Dallas Center
North Campus Redevelopment

Sturgis Construction Information

When the North Campus Redevelopment is completed, Sturgis will become more of a two-sided facility. Currently, most foot traffic enters the building through the main entrance on the southwest side. When complete, buildings 1 and 2 will frame that entrance to Sturgis making it less accessible other than for pedestrian traffic coming from the residential village or the Circle. So, the current main entrance will become the student entrance and will be used by students in the residential village and those walking across the pedestrian bridge to Sturgis while the north entrance will be used for athletic events and other visitors to the facility.

On the north side of the building, improvements will be made to dress-up this new front door to the facility. These improvements will include re-designing the parking lot, concealing the mechanical equipment near the entrance, landscaping, and generally freshening-up the exterior of the building. Many of these improvements will be complete in time for the opening of the 2009-10 basketball season. Parking lot improvements will be made in the summer 2010.
