Cory Neal Schantz
Baritone
Instructor of Music

Cory Neal Schantz serves as Instructor of Voice and Fine Arts: Music. A graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and Austin Peay State University, Mr. Schantz is completing a DMA in Voice Performance at the University of Oklahoma. Prior to his appointment at Ouachita, Mr. Schantz held positions at Tarleton State University and Wayland Baptist University.

Mr. Schantz studied with John Gillas, Don Bernardini, and Linda DiFiore. He has coached extensively with internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne. In addition, Mr. Schantz has had the opportunity to coach with Thomas Stewart, Evelyn Lear, and Mary Jane Johnson. A baritone whose voice possesses a combination of warmth, brilliance, and power, Cory Neal Schantz made his professional operatic debut with Baltimore Opera where he was praised by the Baltimore Sun for his "engaging presence" as Wagner in Gounod's Faust. As a Studio Artist with Baltimore Opera, he performed the role of Guglielmo in Cosi Fan Tutte. Additional credits include Mercutio in Romeo et Juliette, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Mr. Cash in Mozart's The Impressario, and Il conte d'Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.

An active performer, Mr. Schantz has appeared as guest artist with the Granbury Civic Chorus and the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale. He has appeared as Baritone soloist in Handel's Messiah with the Brazos Chamber Orchestra and in Faure's Requiem with the Forth Worth Civic Orchestra.
