Areas of Study
A major in mass communications prepares students for a wide variety of career fields, including advertising, public relations, television, radio, newspaper, magazines and new media. For generations, these areas have been related by a base of communications skills but have been pursued separately. Today, as new technology and new business models fuel the convergence of these media, unique opportunities will appear for students with a communications background. Mass communications majors will fine tune numerous communications skills in a series of required courses. In addition, electives may be chosen in one or more communications fields.
