Productions

Ouachita's Mass Communications Department houses a television studio, three separate editing suites and an audio production booth. The video production format used by students is mini-DV and a full range of production tools are available for students enrolled in the appropriate courses. Post-production editing facilities include both linear and non-linear capability.

Ouachita students assist in the production of several television, cable and video productions. Their responsibilities range from producer and director to camera operator and editor. Students enrolled in Practicum also help and receive credit for their service.

Some of the productions include "Ouachita" which is a monthly program that can be see in different areas throughout the region. Another show available throughout Arkansas is the Todd Knight Show (Coach of the Ouachita Tigers) which airs weekly during football season.

Students work with 3-chip mini-DV camcorders, wireless microphones, and professional support equipment.
The television studio includes 3 cameras, production switcher, lighting grid, teleprompter, character generator, and sound system.  All equipment is portable, allowing field production outside the studio, such as athletic events and Tiger Tunes.
Editing facilities include an Avid Express DV editing workstation and an Avid MCXpress editing workstation. The system includes Adobe AfterEffects, Photoshop, Elastic Reality and Boris Effects.
