Albert Crow was born on March 17, 1868, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
He was
the eldest son of Austin M. Crow and Abigail Mendenhall Crow.
His
involvement within the Arkadelphia community included the founding of the
Arkadelphia Telephone Company with his brother-in-law William Gerig in
1891.
This partnership remained intact until his
death. He was also the secretary of the Arkadelphia Novelty Company as
well as co-owner of the Crow Brothers Drug Store.
He was furthermore involved with the management
of the Poplar Bluff Telephone Company in Missouri. By 1900, he owned an
insurance and real estate company with his father and then became Tax
Assessor for Clark County. In 1902, he was an advertising agent for the
St. Louis, Iron Mountain, & Southern and Little Rock & Fort Smith
Railways. He died on August 7, 1903 of typhoid fever at the age of
thirty-five.
This collection is primarily correspondence associated with his
business life. It does, however, include some personal letters from
friends and family.
