The Program:
The Frank D. Hickingbotham School of Business and
the Daniel R. Grant Center for International Studies jointly organize
a semester study program at Hong
Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong. This program offers
business majors or minors the opportunity to study in one of Asia's
top universities as well as a chance to experience the excitement
of Hong Kong's bustling business world.
Any student interested in international business,
marketing, trade, finance, management, management information systems,
or accounting will find this program rewarding for their present
and future endeavors.
Students may take classes in Chinese Language (Mandarin),
Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics,
Management, Business Law, Chinese Business, Trade Mathematics, Management
Information Systems and many more.


The Setting:
Hong Kong Baptist University was founded in 1956
with the mission of providing quality higher education in a Christian
environment. The University is a liberal arts institution
with a variety of majors and degrees. The school is particularly
strong in their Wing Lung Bank International Institute for Business
Development as well as in their David C. Lam Institute for East-West
Studies.
There are several academic organizations open to visiting
students at the Hong Kong Baptist University including: the Management
Information Systems Society, the Economics Society, and the Government
and International Studies Society. There are also many extracurricular
organizations that visiting students may choose to join, such as:
the Christian Student Union,the Judo Club, the Karate Club, the
Rowing Club, the Social Service Club, the Current Affairs
Association, the Baptist University Choir, and the Softball Club.
Ouachita students will stay in double-occupancy dorms
at Hong Kong Baptist University. Students usually will room
with a Chinese student in the international dormitory. Many
clubs meet in the dorm and this is a wonderful place to meet Chinese
and American friends.

Financial Aid:
All outside financial aid that a student is currently utilizing
may be applied toward the cost ofthe semester study program.
Ouachita allows a student to use 50% of Ouachita issued scholarships
(with the exception of work-study aid).
Requirements:
- Second semester freshman classification at the time of selection
- A minimum of 2.5 GPA
- Good standing with the University
- Written approval from the Dean of the school of the student's major
Application:
The application deadline for study during a fall semester is March 1. For study during a spring semester, the deadline is
October 1. Summer programs are also available.

Obtaining a Visa:
HONG KONG, SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGION - *Passport and onward/return transportation by sea/air required. Visa not required for tourist/business stay of up to 90 days.
