The University of Cape Town, opened in 1829, is South Africa's oldest university, and is one of Africa's leading teaching and research institutions. Located in the breathtaking port city of Cape Town, the slopes of Table Mountain, the University
runs an exciting, varied and successful semester study abroad program. The Faculties of Commerce, Engineering & the Built Environment, Humanities, Law and Science all offer courses to study abroad students.

Financial Aid:
All outside financial aid that a student is currently utilizing
may be applied toward the cost of the semester study program.
Ouachita allows a student to use 50% of Ouachita issued scholarships
(with the exception of work-study aid).
Requirements:
- Second semester freshman at the time of selection
- Good standing with the university
- Written approval from the Dean of the School of student's major
Application:
The application deadline for study during a fall semester is March
1. For study during a spring semester, the deadline is October
1.

Obtaining a Visa:
SOUTH AFRICA - *Passport, onward/return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds required. Passports must contain at least two blank visa pages. Tourist or business visa not required for stay of up to 90 days. HIV test required for all mine workers; U.S. test sometimes accepted.
