Bill Dixon
Director of the Ouachita International Travel Program

In 2000, the Ouachita International Travel Program was organized with the purpose of providing travel opportunities for Ouachita alumni and friends to travel to exciting places and to not only see the sites, but to have educational and cultural components. Since its beginning, there have been annual trips to China. Past trips have included Peru, Holland, Kenya and Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe, Turkey, and Russia. Currently 2007 trips are planned to China, The Holy Land, Chile and Argentina.
After retirement from thirty-three years as Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Services at Ouachita, Bill served on the International Staff from 2003-2007. He fully retired in August of 2007 as the International Student Coordinator. He continues to serve as the Director of the Ouachita International Travel Program. Bill’s leadership in Student Services was highlighted when colleagues in the Baptist Association for Student Affairs (BASA) awarded him their only Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. He has served the international students at Ouachita by providing the student services, by mentoring and advising, and by assisting in adjusting to the American culture.
Although his academic background is in biology, Bill has spent most of his career in education administration. His has a long history of interest and care-giving for international students. Bill has traveled in over forty countries and has directed numerous international tours.
