Established in 1994 and based on Christian principles, UPH’s mission is to prepare the students in their respective fields to become academically proficient professionals. This program will allow students to experience life in the largest Muslim country in the world and the third largest democracy. As a liberal arts university, it is possible for students from all disciplines to find courses to suit their needs. However, students considering studying at UPH should have elective hours available in order to be flexible in their course selection.
Courses are taught in Bahasa Indonesia and English. International students typically chose classes that are taught in English, which has the effect of reducing the number of options available.
SKS is the unit of academic credit used and is the equivalent of our semester hour. A 3 SKS course would meet three times a week for 50 minutes and would be the equivalent of a 3 semester hour course. The university works on a trimester system, which means that the summer program will probably not be an option for American students because it is four months long.
Lodging & Meals
Students live in university residence halls and eat in the university cafeteria. There are also inexpensive restaurants of good quality within walking distance of the campus.
Cost & Financial Aid
See the OBU cost sheet. A special agreement with UPH allows students some special discounts that are described on the cost sheet. This is a very cost effective program.
Visas & Travel
Are visas necessary? What other travel info do students need to be aware of? [Does this info even need to be part of this step of exploration for the student? Or tackle it later?]
