Below are several scholarship and grants that are not awarded by Ouachita but are frequently awarded to Ouachita students. You must apply for these scholarships independently.
KeyBank Scholarship
KeyBank is giving away a $2,500 scholarship every month from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008. For more information and to apply online, you may visit the website at key.com/signup.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship program for transfer students from community colleges
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each year awards approximately 50 scholarships to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions. R. Preston Woodruff, Jr. Scholarship
The Arkansas Student Loan Authority will give away twenty $1000
scholarships each year to high school seniors in Arkansas. Each
year, one of the twenty scholarships drawn will be renewable for 4

W.P. Sturgis Scholarships
These are provided to Arkansas residents
by the Sturgis Foundation based on satisfactory academic performance
and financial need. Information and application forms
can be obtained by calling 870-246-6514.
Hale-Moore
Education Fund
$800 scholarships awarded to
students who are active Christians, involved in a church and
community. Recipients may be selected on the basis of
need, merit, or both. Consideration will be given to
students in a "middle income" bracket who thus so
not qualify for financial assistance available to low income
students. You may download additional information, as well as an application. The application deadline is June 30th.
Hammons
Charitable Foundation Scholarship Program
Scholarships are available for students from
eastern Arkansas and western Tennessee who will be Freshmen or
Sophomores at Ouachita. Students must be active members
of a Southern Baptist Church and have a 2.0 or higher
GPA. Applications are available on line at www.abf.org/scholarships.htm. The deadline to apply is Febraury 1st of each year.
Nancy Cooper Scholarship
Established by the Woman's Missionary
Union to honor Dr. Nancy Cooper, Executive Secretary of the
Arkansas W.M.U. for twenty-five years. Scholarships are awarded
by the Executive Board of the Arkansas W.M.U. to students who have completed at least one year in college. Preference to
mission volunteers or other church-related vocations, or internationals
recommended by Southern Baptist Missionaries. Applications
can be requested in the Office of Financial Aid or from the
Arkansas Baptist State Convention W.M.U. at 1-800-838-2272.
Ministerial
Scholarship Fund
This fund which was established
by the Arkansas Baptist Convention provides $700 per semester
to ministerial students who have been ordained or licensed
by a Southern Baptist Church and who meet certain basic requirements.
The student's church must contribute $125 per semester toward
the total. The amount received under this program is
repayable only if the recipient ceases to pursue the ministry.
The wife of a student who qualifies under the program may
also qualify for a similar scholarship for up to $300 per

AASFAA 2007-2008 Scholarship Application
The Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA) will award two $500 scholarships to Arkansas students. Scholarship winners must be enrolled at least half time during the 2008-2009 school year. All applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2008. Unmet Need Scholarship
Open to families with a combined income of $30,000 or less, this program is intended to supplement financial aid packages that fall more than $1,000 short of students’ financial needs. It is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students. Students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average to be eligible to apply. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,800. You may download the application at www.salliemaefund.org. The deadline to apply is May 31st.
American Dream Scholarship
Scholarships open to African Americans with financial need. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average, who meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and are enrolled full-time. The scholarships range from $500 to $5,000. To apply you may visit www.uncf.org. The deadline to apply is April 15th.
The College Prowler – Wachovia Monthly Scholarship
Each month, a high school or college student will win $1,000. Entrants must write an essay on their choice of two topics, with details available at the College Prowler Web site. For scholarship details and more information you may visit http://www.collegeprowler.com/sch_rules.asp.
W.R. ‘Witt’ Stephens 2007 Creative Arts Scholarship
The Arkansas Livestock Show Association is awarding two $2,500 scholarships. To be eligible you must be an Arkansas resident who is a member of, or has been a member of, an Arkansas 4-H Club, FCCLA, FBLA or FFA Chapter and who has exhibited a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place item in the Junior Creative Arts Department at the Agricultural Fairs in the State of Arkansas and the Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must provide verification of an ACT score of no less than 18 with application. Applicant must be enrolled, or will enroll for Fall 2007 or Spring 2008 semester, in a university. Applicant should have and present evidence of leadership abilities and economic need. Applicant may not have been a previous recipient of any Arkansas State Fair scholarship, and is eligible for only one award. The deadline to apply is June 15, 2007. Powell-Duffell Scholarship
Applicants must be preparing for vocational Christian ministry, must be an active member of a church affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and must be classified as a sophomore or junior during the 2007-2008 school year. Applications and reference forms are available at http://www.abf.org/Scholarships.htm. The deadline for application is March 1st.
National
Merit Scholarships
$250 to $2,000 scholarships available
based on PSAT/NMSQT. Selection is made by the National
Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Bureau
of Indian Affairs
Students classified as
at least one-quarter Indian blood descendant may be eligible
for a higher education grant through the Bureau of Indian
Affairs. Students should contact the Bureau in which

Vocational Rehabilitation
Benefits
Educational benefits may be available
to students with physical disabilities which interfere with
their ability to pursue a gainful occupation or which threaten
continued employment. Applications and required supplemental
forms are submitted to the local Vocational Rehabilitation
Office.
The Montgomery G.I. Bill
(Active Duty)
This is a program of education benefits
for students who entered active duty for the first time after
June 30, 1985. The student must, with certain exceptions,
serve continuously on active duty for three years of a three-year
enlistment or, for a lesser benefit, two years of an initial
active duty obligation of less than three years. A student
also may qualify for benefits by initially serving two continuous
years on active duty, followed by four years of Selected Reserve
service.
Montgomery G.I. Bill (Selected
Reserve)
This is a program of education benefits
for Reservists of the armed forces as well as the Army National
Guard and the Air National Guard. To be eligible for this
program, a reservist must have a six-year obligation to serve
in the Selected Reserve, complete Initial Active Duty for
Training, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and
remain in good standing in a drilling Selected Reserve unit.
Veterans Administration
Benefits
Veterans of recent military service, widows
or children of military personnel who lost their lives in
service or who are totally disabled as a result of service,
may qualify for Veterans Administration educational benefits.
Those who are eligible should contact the nearest VA Regional
Office for assistance in securing benefits. Information
on campus regarding this program may be obtained from the
Office of the Registrar.
