Freshman Scholarship Calculator 2008-2009

At Ouachita we are excited to welcome some of the brightest and most creative women and men to study within our unique community of learners and instructors. In order to help with the costs of private higher education, we offer a comprehensive financial aid program that includes both merit-based and need-based aid.

Below is a calculator designed to give you an idea of what kind of merit-based aid you could receive for the 2008-2009 academic year. Please enter values for all fields listed. If you have taken only the ACT or only the SAT, please input the values for the test you have taken. Otherwise, please enter both scores.

All admitted students will be considered for a merit-based scholarship or award. Please keep in mind the calculator produces an unofficial estimate for merit-based aid. After you have been admitted to Ouachita, you will be notified in writing by the Office of Student Financial Aid of your actual merit-based award.

Please Note:

  1. If entering SAT information, please be sure to enter both the Critical Reading and Math score.
  2. Ouachita does not use super-scores for the ACT or SAT. We utilize your best one-time score on the four main sections of the ACT and/or the Critical Reading and Math portions of the SAT. We currently do not use the writing samples on either the ACT or SAT for awarding purposes.
  3. Official test scores received from ACT or SAT will be used to determine the actual award amounts. Scores from tests taken on or before the February 2008 test dates will be accepted.
  4. Ouachita uses a 4.0 grade point average scale to determine award or scholarship eligibility and for admission purposes. Your grade point average as calculated by the Ouachita Baptist University Registrar at the time of admission will be the grade point average by which we make award determinations.
  5. Priority funding for all merit-based scholarships is available through January 15, 2008. Any admitted students after that date will be considered for remaining funds.
  6. Eligibility for need-based aid will be based on documented need as determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
