Dr. Roy Buckelew

Dr. Roy Buckelew was born in a farm house in rural Oklahoma.
His father was a dirt- poor farmer and his mother a school teacher.
She taught Dr. Buckelew in grades first through fourth. At
age ten, Dr. Buckelew moved to Ada, Oklahoma, where he played baseball
for eight years. He surrendered to preach at the age of fifteen
and began preaching in area churches immediately. From that
time to present, he has averaged preaching five times a week.
He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with majors in Speech
and History with a secondary teaching credential. Dr. Buckelew
pastored a church during his four years in college. After
college, Dr. Buckelew attended Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary and pastored a church there for ten years. He then
moved to California and pastored a church for seven years before
resigning to enter the graduate program at University of Southern
California to pursue a doctoral degree. During his three years
in graduate school, Dr. Buckelew did a free-lance ministry of revivals,
Bible conferences, Family Life seminars, and singing concerts.
Upon graduation, he served for two years at Oklahoma Baptist University
at the vice-president level for Public Relations and Church Relations.
In 1981, Dr. Buckelew began teaching at Ouachita Baptist
University. He took a break from teaching at OBU from 1986-89
to serve as full-time pastor of First Baptist Church Hot Springs.
He came back to OBU in 1989. Dr. Buckelew has served as interim
pastor for twenty Arkansas churches. Dr. Buckelew is currently
the Associate Pastor at Park Hill Baptist Church in Arkadelphia
and he and his wife, Louise, own and operate Buckelew's Bed
and Breakfast.
Dr. Buckelew is available for both workshop presentations and after-dinner
speaking.
