Dr. Kevin Brennan
Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Ouachita
Baptist University
BA, University of Nebraska
PhD, University of Kentucky
I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska.
I owe my accomplishments to having been raised in such a
wonderful place.
I have been an Assistant Professor of Political
Science at Ouachita Baptist University since 1994. My sub-fields
are International Relations and Comparative Politics with special
emphasis on Eastern European politics, the Cold War, and U. S. foreign
policy since 1945.
I received my B.A. with a double major in Political
Science and International Affairs from the University of Nebraska
in 1989, and earned a Ph. D. in Political Science from the University
of Kentucky in 1998. I took a break from graduate school in
1992-1993 to teach courses in International Relations at the Technical
University of Timisoara and the University of Timisoara in Romania.
Living in Eastern Europe at this time provided some first-hand knowledge
of the transition from Communism to a democratic political system
and capitalist economy. During this same period, I traveled
to other countries in the region--including Poland, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia.
In the spring of 1999, I taught courses in Conversational
English, Composition, and American Government at Peking University
in Beijing, China. While there, I had an opportunity to become
one of the few Americans to visit North Korea.
My non-academic interests include listening to
music, exercise, traveling, and sports, especially being an avid
Nebraska football fan.
Dr. Brennan is available for both workshop presentations and after-dinner
speaking.
