Evans Student Center

Prospective Students

Faculty Service-Learning Program

This program is a vehicle for faculty members and undergraduate students to work together in order to provide community service.  The program's goals are to involve more undergraduate students in service activities outside the classroom, to encourage more faculty members to become involved in community service activities and to work with students in doing so.   Through these efforts Ouachita's commitment to service at the local, state, national and international levels will be strengthened.

The center  provides faculty training opportunities and encourages faculty members to attend national service-learning conferences.  In addition, it is hoped that prominent service-learning scholars will be invited to Ouachita to deliver lectures.

Three faculty members and two administrators have been enrolled as institutional members of the NSEE (National Society of Experiential Education) for the 1998-1999 academic year.  This year's members are: Randall Wight, Steve Phillips, Jeanna Westmoreland, Byron Eubanks and Ian Cosh.
