ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Ouachita Baptist University welcomes international students.   Degree seekers must have a Test Of English As a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 (Paper Based Test) or 213 (Computer Based Test).  If students do not have the necessary entrance scores, they may only exit the program with a TOEFL score of 500 (PBT) or 173 (CBT) and by passing level 3 with a B average.

OBU offers three levels of instruction - Beginning (1), Intermediate (2), and Advanced (3) in:

Conversational English
Grammar
Pronunciation
Reading
Writing

Also offered to all students:

American Culture (Fall semester only)
American History (Spring semester only)
Computer Skills
Language Laboratory / Listening Lab
Study Skills (Spring semester only)
New Testament (optional)

Each level has approximately 21 non-credit-hours of class time per week, plus one hour of sport.
