Each year, the Elrod Center coordinates a weekly class led by an experienced leader who introduces students to the concept of servant-leadership. The program seeks to motivate students to cultivate the heart of a servant and educate them regarding the skills necessary for effective leadership. Recently, the course has been taught by Ouachita’s president, Dr. Rex Horne.
“Our desire is to launch our students on a course of leadership development that will last a lifetime. In addition, we hope to challenge our students to serve and lead in a thoughtful, imaginative and passionate manner. We are confident that the servant-leadership model offers the possibility for the student, who is a Christian, to integrate their theological understanding of leadership with the best theoretical understanding of leadership. Students with clear minds and warm hearts will be willing to serve and able to lead.” –Ian Cosh, vice president for community and international engagement
