Ocotber 2008

Here are a few pictures from the past month of Campus Ministries. Refuge continues to be a meaningful time of worship and teaching for many of our students. Over the past month, we've also enjoyed the fun of Tiger Tunes and intramurals. Our Tiger Tunes team won 2nd place with their theme of "Reunion". And one of our girls intramural teams (En Feugo) won the lower division championship in flag football. Our ministries continue to reach out to the campus and our Arkadelphia community. We're also in the process of planning and recruiting for our winter, spring break and summer mission trips. Please keep us in your prayers.

The Beginning of a New Year

Every year at OBU, Campus Ministries starts the year off with a number of events that we hope will help students get connected with what God is doing on and through Ouachita's campus. This year was no exception. We began by taking our student ministry leaaders on a "getway" to talk and pray about how we could best serve Christ during the upcoming year.

Once the rest of the OBU students returned to Arkadelphia, we geared up for our annual Fall Retreat at Camp Paron. Joey Dodson, OBU professor of New Testament and Greek, spoke, and worship was led by the students in the Refuge band. It was a great time of worship, teaching, and introduction of the various campus ministries to the 200 students who attended.  The chicken fingers at dinner were good too.

Other annual events, like Barn Bash and the New Student Variety show, turned out great and we raised over $400 for missions at the Variety Show. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as a number of our ministries (like Big Bro/Sis pictured below) are starting up in full force.

This year we also have the benefit of having Joe Hall on our campus. Joe works for the International Mission Board and it's his job to help mobilize students for missions across the world. Part of his work has been to organize a missions fair that will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 1st.

Campus Ministries at Ouachita sent ten students and staff members to Zimbabwe this summer for two weeks. The mission trip was taken in partnership with Park Hill Baptist Church in Arkadelphia.  Here are some pictures from the trip. If you're interested in going on a mission trip with Campus Ministries, contact Ashley O'Sullivan. Thanks to Trinka Newman for the pictures!
