Chesley and Elizabeth Pruett School of Christian Studies

Hello!

Welcome to my personal web page.

Since June 2004 I have been privileged to serve on the faculty of Ouachita Baptist University in the Pruet School of Christian Studies, Department of Christian Missions

Before coming to Ouachita Baptist, my wife, Ardith, and I spent twenty-three years as Southern Baptist missionaries to Japan. There we worked in the areas of church planting and strategy leadership. We were privileged to participate in four new church starts. I also served as a co-facilitator for a think tank of Japanese leaders called “Elijah Group,” and was a founding member of the Japan Strategy Forum.

Here in Arkansas, God continues to provide awesome mission opportunities. As a missions professor, I have travelled with students to Indonesia, India, and Russia. As a member of First Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, I will be travelling with my wife and a group of high school students to Chile. I also get to facilitate the Hands-On Ouachita program.

Our three children grew up in Japan.

Our third child and only son, Reece, is a member of the local high school band (drum line)and soccer team. He will graduate in 2009.

I have three earned academic degrees: a Doctorate of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988 a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978, and Bachelor of Arts from Howard Payne University in 1975.  While on the mission field I spent two years in full-time language study, eventually completing certification level five in Japanese.
