Mission Studies Trips

Every other summer (summers of odd years) the PSCS Department of Christian Missions conducts a mission study tour to some part of the world. Students attend preparation sessions the semester before departure and receive six hours of course credit. If you are an OBU student and would like to participate, contact Dr. Ray Franklin (franklinr@obu.edu).

South Africa 2011

Dates:        May 15 – June 5

Three professors and  fourteen students took a three week mission tour of South Africa. Colin Bishop, our host and guide for the trip, used our group to launch REACH4LIFE campaigns on middle school and high school campuses in Kwa-Zulu Natal, homeland for the Zulu people. God already was at work when we arrived, creating a warmth and openness to the Gospel we found encouraging and refreshing. Colin and his well-trained team plugged us into their bold mission strategy—using the New Testament to promote abstinence at “ground-zero” in Africa’s fight against the HIV/AIDS virus. To top off an incredible three weeks, we witnessed “up-close and personal” a lion kill in Kruger National Park.
