General Information

A student who wishes to obtain a B.S. degree in nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences may complete the first two years of work at Ouachita as outlined below. A student who plans to enter any other nursing program should consult the catalog of the appropriate school before registering at Ouachita. Please note that requirements of professional schools change, are posted on their websites, and often take effect immediately. Their requirements supersede OBU catalog listings. Click UAMS College of Nursing for up to date information. Look under Applicants, BSN Prerequisites.

All prerequisite course grades must be C or better. A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better is required. Minimum prerequisite is 64 hours.

First Year

First Year's Total = 33 hrs

Second Year

1 or ENGL 3013 (Technical and Professional Writing) or credit by examination (CLEP or OBU departmental exam). Waived if Aor B made in Composition 1 and A made in Composition 2.

Second Year's Total = 31 hrs
