I am so excited for you! I remember exactly what I felt as a freshman...nervous, anxious, responsible, excited, and FREE!!!! Don't be too nervous though - you are here for a reason. God will teach you and grow you so much in your first semester it is unreal.

My favorite part about OBU is the friendships I have found! You need to get INVOLVED. Make friends and most importantly allow Jesus Christ to move in you! You are going to LOVE Ouachita! I can't wait to meet ya'll!

Praying for you,

Paige

So I'm guessing you're pretty stoked about Ouachita already if you've checked out this website.  Instead of a pep talk then, I'm just going to say get ready.  Soon, your expectations will be met--if not exceeded--when you step on this campus!  I can't stress enough how much I love this school.  Prepare for a life-changing experience and a chance to meet some of the coolest kids this side of the Mississippi.

Come to WOW!

sam.

Hey to all of you Incoming Freshmen!

I hope that you know we are getting all ready for you to get up here and join in on the Ouachita Experience.  We truly have a wonderful time here at OBU, and I am so excited that you guys and girls are going to add to the fun we have.  WOW is such a fun time and a great opportunity to meet some of your fellow classmates, find a date, get plugged in, eat free food, and learn about all that OBU has to offer you.  I want you to know that we, as a WOW team, have been praying for you as you arrive as have the many faculty and staff members here.  Go ahead and get your stuff packed in the car and your new college look ready because we are going to get this thing going!

See you in August!

WELCOME TO OUACHITA'S WORLD!!!!! (duh) So things are about to get pretty crazy for you, huh? I mean, you're leaving the safety and comfort of your parents' home, you're traveling far away to the distant land of Arkadelphia, and you're starting college. Woo hoo!! And you probably feel like you have no idea what to do...that's ok. It's totally normal. Even though it's kinda scary venturing out on your own, once you get here you'll meet so many new people who are in the same boat as you! Just a couple tidbits of advice: #1. Get plugged in. There are various ways to get involved at Ouachita--find out how you can use your God-given talents to be a servant to others. #2. Be Yourself!!! There is never a standard you should try to fit to impress others. Uniqueness is the cool thing to do. Don't forget that.

College is crazy-fun, get excited!!! You will have a blast meeting people and experiencing the blessings of God that will surround you here. Hope you have an awesome summer!!! Personal experience, girls: Be careful how much you spend on that dorm room of yours...it quickly adds up, believe me!!!

Ouachita is a great place. if you are unsure about the university that you wish to attend, save yourself the trouble and just apply to OBU. honestly, obu could annihilate any other private baptist institution on all levels - just kidding. but seriously, it really could.

Since my freshman year here at Ouachita, I have met some amazing people, made some amazing memories...I really cannot imagine myself at any other school.  I love it here. I have made friendships with people who are genuine, who care for me, and who truly love God.

I am so glad you chose Ouachita; I know God has placed you here for a reason. Get excited because you are about to have some of the best times of your life!  Woo hoo!  Oh and let's be friends, ok?  Ok.

Welcome all to the Wonderful World of Ouachita.  It may seem that there is an excess of praises for our school on this page, but you’ll soon find out for yourself what a great place it really is. I hope you can’t wait to get here, because we can’t wait to meet you.

It’s been almost a year since I first set foot on campus and I’ve learned a lot and grown a ton.  Ouachita is a great environment for you to flourish, but it’s only what you make of it.  It will be your choice to make the most of the many opportunities here.  Get plugged in.  Meet people.  As good as Easy Mac is (I know, I’m eating some right now), get out of your dorm, go to the cafeteria and make some new friends.

Lastly, allow the Lord to work in you and through you.  I used to hear alumni half-jokingly use the propaganda that “Jesus went to OBU, so you should too.”  Let me tell you, he’s still here.  Don’t miss out on the greatest opportunity in life to make your story a part of His.

Good luck, we’ll see you this fall.

-Landon
