The Red Bus Project, a free orphan care awareness event for college students, will once again be impacting campuses in the fall of 2014. Since the spring of 2012, the Red Bus Project has held over 80 events on over 60 college campuses and engaged over 160,000 students, helping them to make a difference in the lives of orphaned children around the world.
The Red Bus Project features an English double decker bus, retrofitted to be a rolling thrift store. Racks and bins of clothes will fill the bus and surrounding tents and students will be able to buy clothes to help support Show Hope’s orphan care programs. There will also be a donation center where students can donate clothing to be purchased by other students.
Aside from the bus, clothing racks and bins, there will be tents with Red Bus swag, games and information about the global orphan crisis and Show Hope’s response to it. Student volunteers can help our team interact with their fellow students in these areas.
On the day of the event students can participate in 2 ways: Give clothes + Buy Clothes.
In addition to giving or buying clothes the day of the event, RBP offers a platform to college students who want to be involved in advocating for the children through opportunities such as short-term trips, internships, and direct contact with a support team designed to equip students to share the children’s needs with others. The combination of these resources is setting a collegiate response in motion that will transform the global orphan crisis as students realize the impact that each voice has in changing the life of a child.
