OBU’s
Health Professions Committee
Ouachita
Baptist University has a long history in preparing students for
health professional school, including medical, dental and
veterinarian programs. Beginning
in the fall of 2003, students will see a change in our format
for those students pursuing acceptance into health careers.
The
Health Professions Advisory Committee will aid in the
preparation of the student’s professional school application
and will write recommendations on behalf of the student.
The Committee will also conduct a mock interview to
prepare the student for the interview process at the
professional school.
Specifically,
each student will prepare an educational portfolio that
includes:
-
Current
transcript.
-
Current
degree plan.
-
A
statement of career goals.
-
A
personal world view statement.
-
AAMCAS
application.
Students
will be guided by the Committee and their academic advisor in
developing a portfolio. Prior
to applying for professional school, students should review
their portfolio with their advisor and apply for a “mock
interview” with the Committee.
The portfolio will be evaluated by the Health Professions
Advisory Committee at this time and each committee member will
evaluate the candidate.
Recommendation letters will be prepared from the
Committee evaluations.
