Degree Requirements
- General Biology--BIOL 1014 Zoology
- General Biology--BIOL 1024 Botany
- Experimental Research--BIOL 4001 (required for B.S. degree, optional for the B.A.)
B.S. degree: BIOL 1014, 1024, 4001, two courses from 3014, 4054, 4064, and additional BIOL hours to total thirty in the department. Additionally, eight hours of chemistry are required. A minor of at least twenty hours must be completed in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Psychology. Experimental Research (4001) is waived upon completion of lab-based Senior Thesis for those participating in the Honors Program.
B.A. degree: BIOL 1014, 1024, and at least 16 additional hours in the department including a minimum of 12 junior senior hours. Additionally, eight hours of chemistry are required.
B.A. degree (field emphasis): BIOL 1014, 1024, 3034, 3xx3, 3yy2 and one of the Travel Study courses 3863, 3873 or 4783, and one additional 4-hour, junior/senior level BIOL course; At least 1 from the following: NSCI 3001, LST 2083, 3033, 4842, PHIL 3183. Additionally, eight hours of chemistry and MATH 2063 are required.
Requirements for a major in Biology (teaching emphasis): BIOL 1014, 1024, 2014, 2024, 3034 and two courses from 3014, 4054, 4064. NSCI 2003, 3013, 3961; CHEM 1004, 1014; PHYS 1004, 1014; MATH 1003 or 1034. In addition, students must complete a second major in education as outlined by the School of Education.
MATH 2063 Elementary Statistics is strongly suggested for all those pursuing a Biology major or minor.
