Heather M. Bynum currently serves as the Instructor of Clarinet at Ouachita Baptist University and as second Clarinetist with the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra. She is an active teacher and performer balancing roles as soloist, chamber musician and private instructor for several local Arkansas schools. She received her BM in performance from Bowling Green State University. She then went on to receive her MM in performance with a related field in musicology from the University of North Texas. Ms. Bynum is currently completing her thesis for the DMA in performance and pedagogy at the University of Iowa. While at the University of Iowa, Ms. Bynum served as the clarinet teaching assistant from 2001-2005. She also served as clarinet instructor for Kirkwood Community College and Iowa Wesleyan College. Recently Ms. Bynum has performed at the NASA Regional Convention in Dallas, TX. She has given master classes at Local Arkansas schools and worked as a clinician for the 2006 Arkansas Clarinet Day. She has served as an adjudicator for several Solo and Ensemble Competitions. She has also participated in numerous recordings with the University of North Texas Wind Symphony from 1997-2003 and has participated in master classes with clarinetists Eddie Daniels and Jane Carl. Her primary instructors include Dr. Maurita Murphy Mead, Dr. John Scott, Mr. Edward Marks, and Mr. Daniel Roberdeau. Please visit the OBU Clarinet Studio Website |
