1. Question-Does Ouachita award tennis scholarships?

Answer-Yes. The NCAA allows all Division I and Division II instuitions 4.5 scholarships for men's and 6.0 women's tennis.

2. Question-Does Ouachita award tennis scholarships to students who live outside the United States?

Answer-Yes.Ouachita takes pride in the fact that over 10% of our student populaton comes from nations outside the United States. We also have a tradition of outstanding international tennis players.

3. Question-How do I recieve a scholarship from Ouachita?

Answer-Ouachita is a member of the NCAA and must follow the recruiting guidelines for Division II institutions. If you are planning to enroll at Ouachita Baptist University or any other NCAA university as a freshman and want to compete on a varsity athletic team, you must be certified by The NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

Additional information that will be needed by coach Craig Ward to be considered for a tennis scholarship:

  1. Your high school or gymnasium transcript.

  2. A minimum score of 820 on the SAT or a sum score of 68 on the ACT.

  3. A player record of all your tennis matches with scores and opponents for the past year.

  4. As a Division II member we do not have some of the restrictions that Division I instuitions must follow. There is no maximum age limitation and we don’t have the 21 year old foreign-player rule.

4.Question-What is the difference between Division II and Division I instuitions.

Answer-Usually the size of the university. Ouachita has a student body enrollment of approximatiely 1,400. Most Division I instutions have a student population between 10,000 to 50,000 students. We think a smaller university creates an atmosphere where everyone feels special and more attention can be given to indvidual needs in the classroom.
