Lady Tigers Win On the Road

FORT WORTH - Crystal Allen scored 27 points to lead the attack as the Ouachita Baptist University Lady Tigers took a hard fought 65-62 intersectional victory Monday night over the Texas Wesleyan University Lady Rams at the Sid Richardson Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Allen was 10 of 20 from the field, two of four from the arc, and five of six from the line. The Louisiana Tech sophomore transfer grabbed seven defensive rebounds, dished out six assists, stole the ball twice and blocked a shot to help OBU to a 5-1 season record. The loss dropped TWU to a 5-2 mark.
Robyn Anders, a junior wing from Grapevine, Texas, playing before a local crowd, moved her game up a notch as she scored 16 points. Anders was six of nine from the field, two of two from the arc, and two of three from the line. Freshman Lyndsey Hawkins added 10 points. Forward Jennifer Edwards snared eight rebounds.
The Lady Rams were led by Catherine Weir and Jessica Woods, both with 14 points.
As a team, Ouachita shot 47 percent (22 of 47) from the field, six of nine from the three-point distance (67 percent), and 15 of 23 (65 percent) from the charity stripe. OBU grabbed 35 rebounds, but got by with 20 turnovers.
Texas Wesleyan's shooters made 21 of 60 from the field for a cold 35 percent. The Lady Rams hit only two of 10 from the distance and were 18 of 25 from the line. The team pulled down 30 rebounds.
The score was tied at half-time, 30-30.
Coach Garry Crowder will take his Lady Tigers to Jackson, Tenn., to play another non-conference game against Lane College Thursday at 7 p.m. Following that game, the Lady Tigers will take time off for semester tests before resuming play in a 7 p.m. game Friday, Dec. 15 against the Lyon College Pipers from Batesville at OBU's Bill Vining Arena in the Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center.
