Mac Sisson
ARKADELPHIA - Ouachita Baptist University Lady Tigers sophomore point guard Robyn Anders of Grapevine, TX has been selected as one of five members of the Lone Star Conference North Division Womens Basketball 1999-2000 All-Academic Team and Commissioners Honor Roll.
At Ouachita, Anders holds a perfect 4.00 straight (A) grade point average in the field of business.
The other four athletes selected for the LSC All-Academic Team were: Ami Guffy, a University of Central Oklahoma sophomore; Krista Anderson, a Harding University junior; Sonia Cornwell, a Cameron University sophomore; and Dana Sutton, a Southeastern Oklahoma State University sophomore.
Another Ouachita womens basketball player, sophomore guard Vivi Dees from Cove (Van-Cove) was chosen for the LSC Commissioners Honor Roll for her academic prowess. She has a 3.86 grade point average in sports medicine.
The two women were among 14 student-athletes who qualified for the Honor Roll by having at least a 3.20 grade point average and completing a minimum of 24 semester hours at their institutions. From that list, the leagues sports information directors voted five student athletes to the All-Academic Team- a team based on academic and athletic achievement.
Post-season basketball honors keep coming to Lady Tiger senior guard Jamie Scheppmann of Cove (Van-Cove). The latest honor is being named to the First Team on the Daktronics All-South Central Region Team for the 1999-2000 season.
In her only campaign as a Lady Tiger, Scheppmann averaged 21.7 points (ppg) and 3.4 rebounds (rbg). She joined top vote getter Jackie Bucher of Abilene Christian on the First Team, along with Emporia States Tara Holloway, Pittsburg States Leslie Dudley, and West Texas A&M Universitys Latarica Spencer.
The team is selected by sports information directors and sponsored by Daktronics, Inc. of Brookings, S.D., a leading designer and manufacturer of electronic scoreboards and programmable display systems. Scheppmann and the other four members of the First Team are now candidates for Division II All-America honors.
Recently, Scheppmann was named as Player of the Year in the Lone Star Conference North Division and to the First Team All-LSC North Division.
