LSC Womens Championship Basketball Look

ARKADELPHIA - The Ouachita Baptist University Lady Tiger basketball team set as a goal prior to the start of the season to win the Lone Star Conference title. That quest continues as Ouachita enters the final eight days of conference play in pursuit of a berth in the 2000 Lone Star Conference Womens Basketball Championship Tournament.
Going into action on Thursday night, the Lady Tigers (16-5, 6-3) were in second place in the LSC North Division, a game behind division leading Southeastern Oklahoma State University (15-6, 7-3), a team they play on Thursday night (February 17) at Bill Vining Arena in the Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center. The OBU women cagers wrap-up the regular season with three conference road games the week of February 21-26 against Harding University (Monday), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Thursday), and Cameron (OK) University (Saturday).
The top four teams from both the North and South Divisions will meet for the quarterfinals of tournament play on Tuesday, February 29 at the site of the highest seeds. Number four seed in the south division will meet at the number one seed in the north division. Number four seed in the north division will play at the number one seed in the south division. Number three seed in the south will play at the number two seed in the north. Number three seed in the north will play at the number two seed in the south.
On Friday, March 3, the winners of the quarterfinals will be cross-seeded for the semi-finals which will feature the lowest versus the highest seed at the highest seeds home playing site.
The championship for the womens tournament will be played Saturday, March 4 at the home site of the remaining south division team.
Going into Thursday nights action, the top four teams in the LSC North Division womens race were: SEO (15-6,7-3), OBU (16-5,6-3), University of Central Oklahoma (15-7,6-4) and Northeastern (OK) State University (13-9,6-4).
South division standings for women were: Texas A&M University-Kingsville (18,6,13-1), West Texas A&M University (19-4,11-2), Eastern New Mexico University (15-7,8-4) and Abilene Christian University (10-12,6-6-tie) and Midwestern (TX) State University (7-15,6-6).
