Lady
Tigers- top free throw shooting team in
the Nation

The best womens
NCAA Division free throw shooting team in the
nation this week is Ouachita Baptist University.
The Lady Tigers have
hit 190 of 237 attempts at the line for 80.2
percent. Off to one of its best starts in school
history, Garry Crowder-coached team also leads
the Lone Star Conference in free throw shooting.
Ouachita has a record
of 9-1 and is among the top 10 in won-lost
percentages in the weekly NCAA Division II stats.
The Lady Tigers are
14th in national three-point field goal
percentage, hitting on 40 of 104 treys for a 38.5
percent average. In conference action, OBU leads
the 17 school mega-conference in the category.
In individual score,ng,
Ouachita senior Jamie Scheppmann, a 5-10 senior from Cove is
ninth in national scoring with 48 total field
goals, including nine three-pointers. She has 70
free throws for a total of 1754 points and a 21.9
points per gave average. The Louisiana Tech
transfer is second in the LSC behind Latracia
Spencer of West Texas A & M University, who
has 22.6 average.
Scheppmann is tied with
fellow teammate Robyn Anders for sixth place in national
free throw percentage. Both players have a 90.9
percentage. Anders, a 5-9 sophomore point guard
from Grapevine, Texas is 40 of 44 from the line,
while Scheppmann is 70 of 77. The Ouachita duo is
listed in second place in free throw shooting in
the conference, following Christi Chaves of
Angelo State (Texas) University who has a 93.3
percentage. The ASU player has only been in five
games and hit 14 of 15.
