Tiger Baseball News:
Tigers End Historic
Regular Season: Millington Next
The Tigers of Ouachita Baptist
University finished off a historic regular season last Sunday with a bang.
Senior Day proved to be a celebration for more than one reason as the Tigers
beat Christian Brothers University 11-1 to clinch their first-ever GSC West
Division title.
The Tigers (48-6, 18-3) are now
ranked #4 in the CBN Top 30 and #2 in the NCBWA Top 25, as
they head to Millington, TN for their second straight Gulf South Conference
tournament. They will enter as the #1 seed from the West Division and
take on Valdosta State University on Saturday at 1 pm. OBU is ranked
#1 in the South Central Region for the third consecutive poll, and are
closing in on their first-ever NCAA tournament birth.
This senior weekend was also
sweet for one senior in particular, as outfielder David Fischer garnered his
first-ever GSC Player of the Week honor. Fischer went 8-12 on the
weekend with hits in 8 consecutive at-bats, and reached base on 12 straight
plate appearances. He was the 6th award winner this season for the
Tigers, and brought his season line up to .364 batting average, with
71 hits, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, 34 RBI, 56 runs, 31 walks and 14 stolen
bases.

Dedication
Opportunities for Rab Rodgers Field
The opportunity to leave a
lasting impression on OBU baseball has now become available to alumni and
friends of the program. Head coach Scott Norwood wanted to offer the
members of the OBU baseball family a unique opportunity to be a part of the
new renovations at Rab Rodgers Field. With new dugouts, a 4-room press
box, and a new concession area scheduled to be completed by February, the
Tigers are offering dedication and naming rights to 8 different areas of the
new construction.

record-setting 31 wins, and look to advance even further into postseason
play after their first-ever trip to the GSC tournament. The
renovations will help to increase the Tigers chance of hosting a NCAA
Regional in the coming years. OBU opens the home portion of the
schedule when they host Upper Iowa University on February 10 and 11, 2007.
