Greetings from Ouachita!
Our current students have a little over five weeks remaining in the semester, but many have already turned their attention to the month of August. To be more specific, those who aren't graduating are involved in pre-registration, a process that involves looking at the course offerings for the fall semester and meeting with academic advisors to talk about degree plans and class schedules. Pre-registration will continue through April 17.
New students accepted for the 2009 fall semester may pre-register, also. On Saturday, April 18, and Saturday, April 25, we will conduct Early Registration sessions for new students. You can read more about it below in a message from Stan Poole, our vice president for academic affairs.

Early Registration at Ouachita
At Early Registration (ER), incoming students get a head start on their first year at Ouachita. They work with a faculty advisor to discuss their academic goals, develop a class schedule, and pre-register for their fall classes. One of the advantages of attending ER is that students have a wider range of choices for class times than they will have at a later date.
As a parent of an incoming student, you are also invited to attend ER. Representatives from a number of campus offices will be available to speak with you. After a joint opening session, parents will convene for a Parent Panel made up of key administrators and staff who can answer questions you may have about the transition to college.
The first ER will be held on Saturday, April 18. You may choose between two sessions, the first beginning at 9:00 and ending with lunch, and the second beginning with lunch and ending at 3:30. The lunch is complimentary and will be served in the Ouachita Commons. A second ER will be held Saturday, April 25, with a similar schedule.
