ABBY’S STORY
“Ouachita means the world to me. Even though I don’t come from a wealthy family, I wanted to attend Ouachita and decided it was worth paying for college on my own by taking out student loans. Now that I’m about to graduate, I know I made the right decision.
“Receiving a liberal arts education has made me a well-rounded individual and has allowed me to ‘try my wings’ in other fields beyond my major. Not only have I received an excellent education that has prepared me for attending medical school after graduation, but OBU has prepared me for life. I have matured spiritually, physically and emotionally. Living on my own has been a healthy challenge in which I have learned who I am and have been sharpened by my peers, who have helped me know what I believe and how I can live out what I believe.
“I have made lifelong friendships, and my professors know more than just my name. They know me personally. I can go to their offices at any time and talk about life. Ouachita provides a real-world environment in which I can make my own decisions with the support of a caring, Christian environment.
