{Boom-a-lacka}
Mattress surfing down the stairs of our dorm.
Floating the Caddo River…….
for two and a half hours.
I have done way more fun and memorable things in these
twenty eight days of “school” than I remember doing in my entire eighteen years of life.
twenty eight days of “school” than I remember doing in my entire eighteen years of life.
When you hear “There is no experience like the OBU experience“
We aren’t “pullin’ your leg”
BUT
Everyday at Ouachita has NOT been so easy.
It’s hard to adjust.
but guess what!
It’s hard for EVERYONE to adjust.
We all have that “WHY AM I HERE!?” thought in the back of our heads.
(Hint: Because your good Heavenly Father planted you here! DUH)
When I’m having one of those
“I didn’t have time to eat breakfast ’cause I slept too late
and missed my quiz, now it’s raining and I realized my car is parked in ‘hell’ days”
and missed my quiz, now it’s raining and I realized my car is parked in ‘hell’ days”
I start thinking about Ramsey.
What makes ME comfortable.
ME. ME. ME.
& on those days when I am horribly selfish:
it seems easy to quit.
on those days I need a blinking neon sign that says:
“Hey! The reason you’re at OBU is not all about YOU!“
Unfortunately.
I don’t get a blinking neon sign.
Fortunately.
I get a wave from a stranger on the sidewalk,
A hug from my upperclassmen mentor,
An e-mail from my advisor just to “check up on me.”
Or my door opened for me walking into the science center.
Friends,
That is BETTER than a neon sign.
Right before I got to pull up my roots,
those little things are a constant reminder from the Lord as to why I’m planted at Ouachita.
A reminder that He is faithful to plant me where I need to grow.
&&
if I stay planted
He will continue to work through me.
There is not a thing more encouraging than knowing that you are right where He wants you to be.
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come our way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to GROW.”
James 1:2-3
